How to Get Verified on Instagram

By Pierre Zarokian.

Instagram has made the process of getting verified easier than ever. While that may excite many
of their social media platform users, it’s important to note that it’s still difficult to be verified. The
coveted blue badge establishes that you are a celebrity, person of note, or a well-known brand. In
other words, someone could benefit from setting up fake profiles in your name. Your profile must
be complete, original, and shouldn’t contain excess social media links.

Don’t let this dissuade you from applying to get verified though. It’s a simple process that takes no
time at all. Just log in to your profile and go to your settings. Click on Request Verification and fill
out the requested information. The form will ask for:
• Username
• Full Name
• Known As
• Category

Once you fill out the information, you must submit identification to prove who you are. The
acceptable forms of proof are your driver’s license, passport, or other identification card showing
your full name and birthdate. If you are verifying a business or brand, you can show proof of
articles of incorporation, tax forms, or a bill from a utility company.

After you’ve submitted the verification form, expect an email either rejecting or approving your
application. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t say how long it will take for them to get back to
you. If you’re denied, they will allow you to reapply in 30 days, so you can always try again.
